Honor a Life... Remember a Life... Celebrate a Life

IGHT UP THE NIGHT SKY by naming a light on the Hospice Foundation Trees of Life this holiday season and honor, remember, celebrate the life of someone who has been special to your life or the lives of others.   

To name a light, it's not necessary that someone was in hospice care --Trees of Life is about tribute and remembrance, for anyone.  Your named light(s) will shine with hundreds of others in a very special holiday tribute on the Trees of Life.  It becomes a warm and bright holiday beacon of your love, appreciation or remembrance of someone.  At the same time, your tribute gift helps deliver comfort, compassion, and emotional support to people who are at the end of their life, and to their family members.  

Bring Your Flashlight Too
These symbolically named lights shining together form the 30- to 40-foot tall Trees of Life in Hollister, King City, Monterey, and Salinas, on California's Central Coast.  They are switched on in a countdown as the finale of each city celebration, lighting the holiday night sky from the Veteran's Memorial Plaza in Hollister, and from the rooftops of Rabobank in King City, the Monterey Marriott Hotel, and the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas.  

Each Tree of Life light dedication represents a minimum suggested donation of $25 to Hospice Foundation.  Every dollar goes directly to support local programs providing comfort, care and compassion to people at the end of life, and their families.

A Gift Card Is Sent
After your donation is received, a gift card is sent to the person you are honoring with a light, or to that person's family.  If you are remembering someone, the card is sent to that person's family or whomever else you designate.  Your name and the person(s) for whom you have dedicated a light are entered in a beautiful, leather-bound Commemorative Book. The Commemorative Books are on display at each tree location listed or can be viewed here online.  Names will be added weekly through the holidays. An Annual Holiday Collectible, A Lasting Memory for You and
Your Family

onors who make gifts of $150 or more will receive a beautiful crystal ornament (2006 edition shown here) etched with the Hospice Foundation's nautilus shell logo and the current year. At this level, if you wish, you can also dedicate six lights!

For a donation of $160 you can personalize your ornament with the name of someone etched on it.  The shape of the ornament changes each year so that families have a memorable holiday collectible.

Funds Raised Become Grants
The funds raised from Trees of Life become one of many sources of the grants given to the local community.  In 2006, Hospice Foundation awarded $1.65 million to 12 local organizations. These grants are funding hospice care at home and in inpatient settings, bereavement support services for families, community outreach and education programs, and other projects that support dignity, comfort, and compassionate care at the end of life.
