$36,000 - Community education to raise awareness, advance dialogue on end-of-life issues

ounded by Hospice Foundation in 2000 as the grassroots End-of-Life Coalition, Compassionate Care Alliance is today a non-profit organization that conducts community outreach and educational programming about end-of-life issues.

It is ever more important today for consumers to become better informed about their health care choices, particularly as it relates to the end of life.  We believe that when consumers become better advocates for themselves and learn about what's available, more will experience the kind of care they want and need for their families, their parents, or themselves. 

In 2003, with help from a Hospice Foundation grant and technical assistance, CCA launched its Caring Resources website, www.caringresources.org, a portal for local, regional and national information on care choices, planning, and services. This year's grant continues to fund the website, CCA's operations, and two community forums on end-of-life care issues.
