$20,000 - Education and Support Services for Families
lzheimer's Disease is one of the most
perplexing
illnesses of our time. It slowly robs people,
primarily the elderly, of their memory and eventually their
ability to care for themselves. Their growing
needs for help can significantly impact their families'
ability to financially or practically care for their loved
one. This
grant helps the Monterey County chapter of the Alzheimer's
Association provide families and others with specialized
information, referral and support services to help them find
and arrange care
for their loved ones who are in advanced stages of this
illness. It also funds a telephone HELPline and support
groups for family caregivers. It also funds a program
to raise caregiver awareness about how to access local
resources, how to cope, and how to find help and emotional
support.
