23rd Annual Hospice Foundation Golf Scramble on Sept. 6,
2005 at Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club in Carmel, California
was again a monumental success, raising an all-time record
$225,000 for hospice care in Monterey County. This year's
event was designated to benefit Community Hospital of the
Monterey Peninsula's hospice program.
Teams of fivesomes made up the field of 179 players in the
Scramble. First place was awarded to the teams with the best
combined net score in each of four flights of play:

First place winners are listed on the Pius Cup, a perpetual
trophy named in memory of the late Chuck Pius, one of the
tournament's founders. Prizes are also awarded for closest
to the pin and longest drive. Two hole-in-one prizes will be
awarded at different designated holes: a new Lexus, courtesy
of Lexus Monterey Peninsula, and a classic Rolex watch,
courtesy of Hesselbein's Jewelers, Carmel.
A hosted cocktail party, sponsored by The Mitchell Group, a
gala banquet, and silent and live auctions followed the
day's play.
Player Sponsor - $1,350--By Special Arrangement
A special category of player, called a Player Sponsor,
provided additional support. A player sponsor received
special program recognition and preferred dinner seating.
This year, player sponsors also joined pro golfer and 1994
AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am winner Johnny Miller who
hosted an exclusive round table discussion group before the
tournament began.
